It has been quite the term for the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art (JSMA) account team. We have participated in client meetings, Residence Hall Association brainstorming sessions, and creative hashtag debates to plan for the JSMA’s new campaign, Member Madness. Since so few students know what the museum has to offer, here is some background on the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art:

• The museum houses more than 13,000 works of art at any given time.

• Since its opening in 1933, the JSMA has housed many internationally-renowned art pieces over the years.

• Located centrally on the University of Oregon campus, the museum welcomes hundreds of visitors monthly.

Our team had our hands full from the beginning. When we sat down for our first meeting, the JSMA staff explained to us the importance of recruiting younger student members that could utilize their memberships throughout their time at the university In accordance with this, our goal is to sign up 10 percent of residence hall students for membership (that is more than 400 new signups).

To attain this goal, we created the JSMA Member Madness campaign. As a part of the campaign, we will pilot a residence hall social media competition to entice on-campus residents to sign up for a JSMA membership. The prize: a pizza party hosted in the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art along with an exclusive tour of the museum.

Points will be given to all residents who sign up online or in person and teams will be divided by residence hall. Competitors can also gain points by tweeting or posting Instagram photos related to the competition with the JSMA hashtag, #JSMAArtRace. The hall with the most points by the end of the weeklong competition wins! We believe that the competition will increase the number of JSMA members, as well as social media interactions and awareness around campus.

We are in the process of partnering with RHA to market the competition and promote it within the residence halls. Be on the lookout for more information regarding the competition and check out more on the JSMA here.
